# Usage Allowances and Limits
There are two types of allowances measured and restricted in OneCompute: Storage and Compute. Storage measures the amount of data in the cloud storage of an account. Compute measures credits and restricts, when relevant, the possibility to run jobs in the Cloud.
# Storage
Storage allowance is defined in terms of a storage expiration date and a storage limit.
After the storage expiration date OneCompute will reject any incoming jobs if they are run by an application that requires cloud storage. If you are in doubt about whether an application requires cloud storage or not, please contact the application support team.
The storage limit is defined as a monthly average and is calculated periodically. There are no automatic restrictions on the amount of data in the cloud storage. Account administrators are encouraged to monitor this average to ensure that the agreed limit is not exceeded. Over usage (if the average usage during the month is higher than the monthly average limit) will be invoiced at the end of each month.
# Compute
The cloud usage is measured in credits. When a task is run on the cloud through OneCompute, the amount of credits used is based on three factors: the time (in hours) that the node ran; the credit factor of the VM type and the credit factor of the application or feature (IP value).
Every account has a credit balance that represents the amount of purchased credits that have not yet been consumed. If the account has a negative balance, the extra credits consumed are typically considered as post-paid (NB. post-paid may be subject to a different price than pre-paid). The balance increases when credits are purchased and decreases when jobs are run by one of the account’s users.
Each account also has a credit limit which is, by default, set to 0. When the Account balance is higher than the credit limit cloud jobs can be submitted. If the balance is below the credit limit, all submitted jobs will be rejected. Note that after a job begins, it will not be stopped due to the credit limit, i.e. a job can be started if the balance is higher than the limit and it will continue to run until completion even if it reduces the balance below the limit.
The credit limit is an account setting and it can be adjusted to any number (positive or negative) at the request of an account administrator.
